(Limited Term Employment)

Immediate temporary opportunity with the Dane County Land and Water Resources Department, Parks Division in Madison, Wisconsin. Under the supervision of the DCP Volunteer Coordinator, this position will work on the interpretive displays and develop and present a naturalist/educational program for the Capital Springs Recreation Area (CSRA); coordinate with Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area (FOCSRA), the designated Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) staff, and Dane County Parks staff to plan nature education programs and signage for CSRA; coordinate, assist with, and develop more education programs in CSRA for people of various age groups or target populations. Please refer to other duties described in the classification specification. Requirements: BA or BS in environmental education, education, natural science, water/hydraulics engineering or related fields (college students in any of these areas will be considered) or equivalent experience is preferred. 400 LTE hours: June 1-Oct. 30 (approx 15 hr/wk); 2.5 months off in winter (November-January); and approx. 8 hrs./week the rest of the year. Time availability will be negotiated. In the summer, must have some hours available during the day, several days/week with some weekend and evening hours. Required attendance at Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area Board (FOCSRA) Board meetings approximately once/month, Harvest Moon Festival planning meetings as well as actual Harvest Moon event and other special events as needed. Work hours vary based on program needs. Limited Term Employees (LTEs) are limited to 1040 hours of work in a payroll year. This position is budgeted for a total of 400 hours  with an hourly wage of $16.00. How to Apply: Please submit an application form, cover letter, resume and three professional references.
